We are Curt and Susan Adams, Peace Corps volunteers in Moldova.
Curt’s project: Agribusiness and Rural Development
Susan’s project: Health Education in Schools and Communities
We feel fortunate to have been given this opportunity to be a part of an organization devoted to promoting peace and fostering healthy global relationships. While the year and a half process (from application to departure) has been long and dragging at times, it has given us ample time to prepare mentally, physically, and emotionally for this 27 month commitment. We will miss our friends and family immensely and hope this blog can help keep us all connected.

“Mail service in Moldova is not completely reliable. Letters to and from Moldova typically arrive in two or three weeks, but there is a high rate of letters and flat mail never reaching volunteers. Packages generally arrive safely, although they are often opened at customs.” – Peace Corps
I can’t make it to your get-a-way barbeque, but I wish you well and wish you all the success in the world! Stay safe and I admire so much what you both are doing. Take care, it will be fun to follow you on your blog.
Just saw your latest photos and thoughts on your first few months. I am jealous. Wish I was younger.
I am halfway through “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson, the American climber that has spent the last fifteen years building schools in poor parts of the Himalaya region of Pakistan. I couldn’t help but think of you as I read.
Best wishes,

Susan and Curt: Imagine my surprise to find out we’re related, if only by marriage. Susan, I’m sure that you and I have met before even if it was a long time ago…Bear Lake and Morris family reunions. You would have been a very young girl at the time. Too bad we didn’t know this while I was there in Aug/Sept.
Hey Curt & Susan,

Love all the incredible pictures Susan. The architecture and detail is amazing. When do you come home again? We all miss you and pray for your safety and health. Have a great time!!

Hello Susie and Curt!
I just finished looking through the photos of your incredible trip to Greece , Santorini etc! It looks amazing! Susie, you should sell your photos to the department of tourism there…they are incredible…and definitely make you want to visit! I loved all of the colorful descriptions, and you really captured the feel of the locations! We really miss you guys, and think of you often! (and Curt, it looks like you could use a haircut!) Hopefully you are having a memorable time, and are enjoying all of the experiences you are encountering. I love looking through your blog, and apologize we haven’t done a better job of keeping in touch! Wish we could see you! Quick update: Lauren ran a 5k over the 4th of July, and won first place in her age group. She made the local paper with a photo of the mayor placing a medal around her neck! Ryan’s baseball team won his league’s rookie division championship (he played for the Rockies), so Doug is takin him to Arizona this weekend to see a real Rockies game against the Diamondbacks! And, Kevin, who just turned 18 months old (can you believe it?) a couple of weeks ago, is walking and chattering like crazy. Doug and I are doing well also, but no real news from us!!
Love you guys and miss you tons! Meg
Hello Curt and Susan. I am a RPCV was that in Moldova 2006 – 2008. I just ran across your blog and I was checking out your pictures and stories of the country. Your pictures are amazing and capture the people, traditions, and food perfectly. You bought back an intense nostalgia. I hope you are having a wonderful time. It’s an amazing and challenging country as I’m sure you are aware. I ended up marrying a Moldovan towards the end of my service and we are currently raising our boys In Romanian and with a strong Moldovan influence. Needless to say Moldova is very close to my heart and I love to see how well you capture the country in your blog. Va doresc sanatatea, fericirea, si pacea. Aveti grija de voi. Va zic sa pretiuti timpul acesta doarece timpul trece prea repede!
It’s nice to meet you, Katie! Where in Moldova were you placed? Thank you for the thoughtful wishes sent our way!
What a treat to read your blog. I was a PCV in Cahul, Moldova in 2003-05 (Moldova 11). In fact, a lot of the recipes in the PC cookbook you mention are my host mom’s (the pasca recipe is my favorite, although a giant quantity as you point out…and yes, our family took turns kneading until we reached 45 minutes–crazy!). Anyway, for International Peace Corps week, I decided to prepare a big Moldovan masa for my colleagues at work (now in Boston) and tried out your host mom’s placinta recipe. Yum! Thank you for sharing, and your photos completely brought me back in every way. Thank you so much. It’s amazing how quickly time passes, and your blog posts and pictures made it seem like yesterday. Succes mare in the rest of your service.
Best,
Julia
